9England produced a stunning all-round display to thrash India by 125 runs in the third T20 International at Trent Bridge on Tuesday, taking a commanding lead in the five-match series.
After being asked to bat first, England recovered from an uncertain start to post an imposing total of 201 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. Opener Phil Salt anchored the innings brilliantly with a fluent 70 off 44 deliveries, while Sam Curran provided the finishing touch with an unbeaten 41 runs in the closing overs.
India's bowlers struggled to contain the English batsmen during the latter stages of the innings as the hosts accelerated to a formidable total.
Chasing 202 for victory, India's batting collapsed dramatically under relentless pressure from England's pace attack. The visitors were bundled out for just 76 runs in under 12 overs, registering their lowest-ever total against England in T20 Internationals.
Jofra Archer set the tone with a fiery opening spell, while Josh Tongue ripped through the middle order to finish with impressive figures of 4 for 28. Archer claimed three crucial wickets and was deservedly named Player of the Match for his match-winning performance.
Only a handful of Indian batsmen managed to reach double figures as wickets fell at regular intervals. Captain Shreyas Iyer admitted after the match that his team's batting performance was "atrocious" and called for an immediate improvement ahead of the remaining matches.
The emphatic victory underlined England's strength in both batting and bowling departments, while India will be eager to regroup before the fourth T20 in Bristol.
