Danni Wyatt-Hodge produced another outstanding display as England secured their place in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup semi-finals with a convincing 38-run victory over the West Indies at Lord’s.
The experienced opener led from the front with a superb 65, helping England post an imposing 186 for seven from their 20 overs. Supported by captain Heather Knight’s valuable 43, England recorded the highest Women’s T20 International total ever scored at Lord’s.
After losing an early wicket, Wyatt-Hodge steadied the innings and kept the scoreboard moving with a fluent knock that put the West Indies bowlers under pressure throughout. England maintained their momentum in the latter stages, with contributions throughout the batting order ensuring a challenging target.
In response, the West Indies struggled to keep pace with the required run rate. Chinelle Henry fought hard with an unbeaten 51 from 29 balls, while Jahzara Claxton added 21, but regular wickets and disciplined English bowling prevented any serious challenge to the target.
Charlie Dean was the pick of England’s bowlers with 2 for 31, while Lauren Bell also made an important breakthrough as the hosts restricted the West Indies to 148 for five from their 20 overs.
The victory confirms England’s place in the final four of the tournament and further strengthens their credentials as title contenders. For the West Indies, qualification hopes remain alive but they must now secure victory in their final group match to keep their semi-final ambitions intact.
