A law firm in Oldham has reached the incredible milestone of raising more than £60,000 by participating in a Will-writing campaign, crowning them the second highest donating firm overall in the UK and the highest in the Northwest.

Touch Solicitors have taken part in the Will Aid campaign since 2011 and over the years, have raised a grand total of £193,143 by volunteering their time and expertise throughout the month of November to write basic Wills and, instead of charging their usual fees, inviting clients to make an upfront donation to Will Aid.

The money raised is shared between the campaign's partner charities, which work across many different causes in the UK and across the world.

Trusha Velji, Director from the Chadderton based firm, said: "We're incredibly proud to have reached this milestone - supporting such important causes while helping our clients plan for the future makes it especially meaningful.

"Will Aid is something the whole team looks forward to each year. It's a real collective effort, and this achievement reflects the time, care and commitment everyone puts in.

"Over the years, it's been hugely rewarding to help so many people put the right plans in place, giving them confidence and peace of mind for the future,” she said.

"To know that, alongside this, we've raised funds that will make a genuine difference to people facing difficult circumstances, both here in the UK and around the world, makes it all the more worthwhile."

The generosity of solicitors who have taken part in Will Aid since it launched in 1988 has helped raise more than £26 million for charity in donations alone, with many millions more in pledged charitable legacies.

Lauren Poole, Chair of Will Aid, said: "Congratulations to Touch Solicitors on reaching such a fantastic milestone. Support like this is vital to the continued success of Will Aid.

"It's inspiring to see firms consistently giving their time and expertise, helping clients gain peace of mind while raising essential funds for our partner charities,” she said. "On behalf of all the charities involved, thank you for your continued dedication and generosity."

Will Aid runs November onwards, offering people the opportunity to have a professionally written Will in exchange for a donation. The suggested donation is £120 for a single basic Will and £200 for a pair of basic mirror Wills, with proceeds supporting Will Aid's partner charities: Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, SCIAF (Scotland), Trócaire (Northern Ireland), and Shelter and Crisis.
